Family Sponsorship
In other words, Family Reunification, can be done for the following family members:
- the sponsor’s spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner;
- a dependent child (under the age of 22 and single) of the sponsored person;
- parents and grandparents;
- an adopted child;
- orphaned brothers, sisters, nieces, relatives in the age under 22 y.o. and who are not married;
- any relative in case the Canadian citizen/permanent resident has no other relative in Canada and is not married/in common law relationship

In order to be eligible to apply for the Citizenship of Canada you must be physically present in Canada as a Permanent Resident for 1,095 days within the five (5) years immediately before applying for citizenship (subject to change by CIC). Only the five (5) years preceding the date of your application are taken into account.
The time required to be in Canada for eligibility is subject to change by Canadian Immigration Authority and has to be checked for updates.
One more requirement is to prove you have a sufficient knowledge of English or French. This requirement concerns only the applicants between 18 and 54 years old.
Your criminal records, any offence in or outside of Canada may affect your eligibility for the citizenship.
As another requirement, you must have the knowledge of Canadian history, values, symbols, political structure, rights, responsibilities and privileges of citizenship.
